The Prophet’s Ascension

In this verse of the Holy Quran, Allah(glorified and exalted be He) has mentioned about the Prophets(peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) Ascension (MERAJ). On the night of 27th Rajab, Allah(glorified and exalted be He) sent Angel Jibraeel to take the Prophet(peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) on a journey to the seven skies on BURAQ. This journey is called MERAJ.

On the night of 27th Rajab Angel Jibraeel came and woke the Prophet(peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) upon Allah(glorified and exalted be He)‘s command and conveyed Allah(glorified and exalted be He)‘s message. He(peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) perform ablution (Wudhu), came out of His house, ascend on the Buraq and first visited the Holy Kaaba and from there to the Aqsa Mosque. Where 124,000, all the messengers of Allah(glorified and exalted be He) prayed behind the Prophet(peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him). From Aqsa Mosque they went towards the sky. They passed all the seven steps of the skies and reached the place called “SIDRAT-UL-MUNTAHA”. Then Angel Jibraeel told the Prophet(peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) that he could not accompany him any further. If he took even a step forward he would burn. The Prophet(peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) travelled alone until the Burag reached the destination and stopped.

Then an enlighted platform “RAF RAF” came and the prophet(peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) sat on it and reached a place called “QAAB-A-QAUSAIN-O-ADNA”.
Here he(peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) also saw heaven and hell. He(peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) visited the different levels of Heaven and saw the different kinds of punishments given to the wrong doers in hell. On his(peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) return from MERAJ Allah(glorified and exalted be He) made prayers five times a day obligatory on all the prophet’s(peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) followers.
